kids size knitted boot slipper

My new pattern kids size knitted boot slipper

Knitted lined Boot

Knitted on the bulky
Tension 5
Size extra small child

Cast on 18 stitches with waste yarn and ravel cord .
with main yarn start the heel Short row down to 8 stitches and out again
Knit 20 rows
Start the toe short row down to 8 stitches and out again
knit 20 rows
Now you will be adding the cuff I crochet cast on 9 stitches on each side
Now you have 36 stitches
Knit 1 row
Increases: increase 1 stitch at each end of the row
Knit 1 row do this 4 times. You have added 8 stitches You should have 44 stitches
you will be knitting the cuff now
knit 42 rows
turn the tension up to 8 for 1 row ( that will make your lining turn over better)
Knit 42 rows decrease 1 stitch each end knit a row
do this 4 times (you should have decreased 8 stitches and have 36 stitches)
Now cast of 9 stitches on each side having 18 stitches left in the middle
Knit 20 rows short row down to 8 stitches and back out again for the toe
knit 20 rows
Short row down to 8 stitches and back out for the heel knit several rows of waste yarn and remove from the machine.
I sewed up the side seams of the foot first.This slipper has the seam of the cuff going up the back. You need to sew the back seam up first.now match your heel stitches that you have on waste yarn to the edge of cuff (these are the stitches you bound off). sew them together Do your lining the same way. Put one foot inside the other and adjust as needed. I took a few running stitches invisibly on the inside heel seam just to hold together .
Crystal clear or clear as mud?
You can make changes such as have all live stitches instead of the crochet cast ons I used and kitchener stitch your boot. I can’t be bothered it looks fine.

Cast on 14 stitches in a contrasting color I chose a beige
Knit 20 rows
Short row down to 4 stitches and back out for the toe
Knit 20 rows
Short row down to 4 stitches and back out for the heel
Knit several rows of waste yarn remove from the machine
Sew the seam in the middle and sew the side seams.
I turned mine purl side out. I put the seam side of the sole to the sole side of the foot so the seamless side of the sole is on the outside.
Single crochet around the edge of the sole or if you don’t crochet sew the buttonhole stitch around.
I used bobby pins and pined my sole in place matching up the toe and heel
Single crochet to attach or buttonhole stitch again.
Make your boots non slip by applying puff paint or caulking
If they make Dr.Scholls inner soles in kid size that would be a nice addition or maybe cut an adult one to fit they are pretty inexspensive.

I made this oh 5 years ago I have worn it 3 or 4 times its lined. It has a simple mock rib top with elastic through it. It does have a snag in the back which I can fix and it was done by one of my cats

This is just a knitted oblong. I knitted a 8 x 24 inch piece in yellow put a runnung stitch through the edge and gathered tightly. I crocheted the yellow circle to the edge of the green that I folded in half. I measure the pieces and made a lining out of fabric which I attached pockets to .before I put it together, I took 2 pieces of fabric and folded them in half and added a zipper then sewed them to the lining. After I had it all together I put the handles on I sewed through the knitting and right through the lining so the handles don't sag. I hand sewed the outside pocket on

I had a gym appointment today and Missy got in bed. So its not made, thats my excuse! I did finish my oven mitt.

Its knitted out of sugar and cream cotton. It has a lining of insul-bright cotton batting and fabric

I washed it and dried it now its AWESOME!

1. Cast on 3 stitches knit using tuck card 1 x1. If you have no patterning make a fat I cord. Knit until the trim is as long as you think you need and then knit several rows of waste yarn.
I pressed mine flat.
2. Next pick up 3 stitches on the edge of your trim, work from the opposite end the ending waste yarn is on. That way if you need more or less you can add or subtract.
3. Knit 30 rows
4. Now you twist and twist it until it’s twisted up to the top and bottom about 15-20 times hold it.

5. Pick up 3 stitches from the edges and hang on the same needles. I pull the needles all the way out and make sure everything is behind the latches knit 1 row. Continue across.
This was done on the bulky and can be done on any machine with any yarn.

Christmas afghans done

Well 3 afghans done 2 are gifts 1 was that infernal circular sweater. I of course tried to wing and it was wrong! Oh well Every time I try to make that thing I end up with another afghan.
Another funfur afghan. The red and green is a clone of another I made this one is knitted tighter. Its kinda curly but believe it or not it was asked for by a 10 year old boy. He keeps taking the one I made his Mom and popped a few stitches which I fixed. So I knitted it tighter and added a lot of crocheting. the fun fur is almost like an accordian a lot of stretch. I put in a lot of crochet which looks ripply but when in use you'd see why. Its not going to be folded on a bed but used.The one I made for myself gets washed in cold and dried on no heat, looks like new everytime. So if you see those funfur yarn sales ... make an afghan and don't show ANYONE! Or you'll have to make them one lol!
The off white is a wedding anniversary gift Isn't nice! I think it is and my arms are killing me.

You can keep it green by making a braiding disk from the many plastic covers you have. It’s great for kids and any time you have to wait. It’s pretty flexible so you can take it about anywhere.

I used an oatmeal box cover. I’m sure you have loads of plastic covers and loads of yarn.

Step 1 get your lid mark 16 places on the edges

My aim is to show you how to save the environment from loads of trash.
You can make disks and have a use for all your stash of yarn, ribbon, and threads. It can be a great tool for using any yarn that was too hard to work with. Rip up fabric from old clothes into strips and try that too. Any fidgety people you know hand them one. Give a bunch of kids a disk and yarn on a rainy day or a long car ride. Keep a bunch to hand out at the doctor’s office. Take away the stress get everyone braiding instead of fuming in line. They can be used as necklaces, key fob’s, bracelets bookmarks, handles, shoelaces, gift ties, string ties, trims, plant holders when tied together. I’m sure you’ll find a use

You can use spring loaded clothes pins for bobbins if you decide to make something long.

Bottle cap yarn doll
One of the first projects I ever did was a yarn doll. I wasn't happy with the colored head, how can it be avoided since it was all one piece.
The way I made this doll you can have a natural color face of your choice or not.
We should all be helping keep our planet green !!!
There's no shortage of bottle caps. Here is a free project to use yours up. I used Gatorade caps.
When I made these dolls I played with them. I was about 8 years old and had a lot of fun with them all year round.
This doll could be used in a wreath, made in school colors, used as a package top, or a Christmas decoration Make them as a garland for a party.

Materials:
(Color of choice) worsted weight yarn for tassel body and I cords
Yarn Remnants for eyes
Pink yarn or desired complexion color for face
Red yarn for mouth
Small amount of light weight yarn such as 4 ply machine knitting yarn for hair
Tapestry needle
Small amount of polyester stuffing or stuffing from a pill bottle
1 plastic bottle cap 2 inches wide (I used one from Gatorade)
Or 2 bottle caps if you want her to sit
Awl
Bulky or hobby knitting machine

Cast on 16 stitches in pink yarn and knit 24 rows or a 4 inch X 4 inch square cast off.

Thread a tapestry needle with red yarn. Find the middle of the square and 1/3 up from the bottom; sew a duplicate stitch for mouth.

With yarn of choice wind 100 times around a piece of card board that’s 7 inches long. I sometimes use a video case Slip off and tie securely at the top with matching yarn to make a tassel.

Cast on 4 stitches and knit and I cord 14 inches long tie a knot in each end for hand

Cast on 24 stitches, knit 2, 5 X 5 inch squares . Steam and let dry and leave for an hour. You are going to be making 2 hanks of yarn for her hair. Unravel the squares completely. Wind the yarn from the unraveled square loosely around a 7 inch long piece of cardboard. Repeat for the second hank. Slip off. Tie in the middle of the hank. Cut the bottom of the hank of yarn on each end. This is her hair.
Take one hank and place on dolls head around her face and sew in place at the middle

36 years ago I was art major ,I took copper enameling. You had to beat on copper throw it acid no oil could be on it.A coat of glue solution followed by a tiny sifter screen with glass powder. Then it went into the kiln

I read this this morning about using plastic salad/take out food containers . This person makes shrink art from #6 plastic containers. You can find the number on the bottom in the recycle triangle?

Here's my button I made I cut a circle. It shrinks. A 1"and 3/4 inch circle shrunk down to a half inch button. I used a paper punch to punch the hole in before I shrunk it.

I sanded my piece (you have to) used a cotton swab and I put embossing powder on it. The plastic shrunk before the embossing powder got shiny. I had to use my heat gun on it. I held the plastic through one of the holes I punched with one of my stem wires, or it blows away.

You can use colored pencils, sharpies, anything thats permanent. If you use non-permanent it washes off.

To had to experiment for size. You can stamp on texture right after its shrunk before it hardens again.

I don't know how it will be for washing. Maybe you can tell me!

Today I thought I was going to accomplish probably what would take days. I did start 2 new projects, I made a doll it was too loose you could see the stuffing. I made a pincushion it was too tall and too loose too.
Worsted yarn is all different weights It can be the same brand and be thicker. I had brown knit up tight, I used a pink and beige it was loose. I had to really tighten up the tension.
I guess I'll have to set up the mid guage again.

Here it is and I have worn it a few times its Red Heart Fiesta yarn done on The Singer 155 bulky knitting machine.

I used knit interfacing I bought at the fabric store. It comes in white and black.

Don't be afraid make something small or use yarn from the thrift store to practice. Just knit up some yardage get out a pattern iron on your knit interfacing and YES cut it out.

Having a serger makes it that much more fun clean all the edges but I sewed the seams together on the regular machine.

The interfacing gives it a firmness around the sleeves and neck I like.

If you wanted to you could iron on interfacing to the whole piece. Then you'd have a less clingy sweater.

I have another one I made on the standard and I really like it. I was a sewer first. I love serging!

I cut a one inch wide piece of iron on interfacing for the length I measured the width of the back and front.

I measured up one inch from the hem edge. I ironed the knit interfaicng on.

I and turned my hem up steamed it and sewed it in place.

I intend to have a draw string on the bottom with 2 button holes for the string to come out of.

It is getting to be that time spring! I wanted a new bag. The prices were high my interest in buying low. Here is what I did. I bought some vinyl and I had yarn.

I wanted a nautical feel. I used cotton for the fabric and yarn. I bought the handles. The draw string is 3 strands 5 X’s what ever length you want. I wove it in and out of the 3rd row from the bottom.

I cut a piece 20 inches by 14 inches. I put the edge up to my needles and marked with a gel pen.

I used a hole punch and punch holes

I added fabric strips I punched holes across both ends which will be the tops.

Hang from the holes you punched wrong side facing you

e wrap the first row and knit manually loosely.

knit 46 rows you want to end with carriage on left.

You pick up every other stitch from your first row and hang it on the machine knit 1 row. You just hung your hem.

Here’s what the hung edge looks like. Now do a crochet cast off. Do the other end the exact same.

Here is what your piece will look like.

Fold your piece in half. Go to your sewing machine and stitch the side up to the knitting. Use a tapestry needles and stitch up your knitted top by hand I used the mattress stitch.

From the side seam I measured 2 inches. Draw a line and sew across. This makes the bottom square
